Tonight I went to hear the mythical David Suzuki speak at the University of Regina. It was the best live talk I’ve ever been too. Hands down. That man has so much cred that he maintains absolute legitimacy even while hollering into the microphone like a raving lunatic. It was seriously excellent. For some reason I thought powerful oration was a lost art, but clearly I was wrong.
He’s heading west and has a number of stops left to go, so if he hasn’t already passed through your town yet, please try to check him out. Find the sched here. ‘Cause we all need more heroes, right?

I saw him speak to the Foreign Press Club in Australia (that was on television though, so it doesn’t really count). He was really good. It made me become aware of the environment, so I would love to see him speak live.
How many were at the University talk?

I think the theatre seats nearly 1000, and there was overflow watching on TV outside.

I saw David speak in 2003 at the UofR. It was overflowing too that time, and I was up in the front row along the edge of the auditorium. He is a very good speaker, and has stories that are just amazing like how he used to play by rivers 60 years ago, that today are too dangerous to play beside.
